Overview
This homebrew competition is open to homebrewers in Northern Nevada and will focus specifically on picking winner(s) who will collaborate with our brewery to submit an entry to the Great American Beer Festival’s Pro-Am competition. The competition is open for entries to the categories below. We are limiting the categories to encourage competition in the beer styles that our brewery has come to be known for.
• Category 23 – European Sour Ale
• Category 24 – Belgian Ale
• Category 25 – Strong Belgian Ale
• Category 26 – Trappist Ale
• Category 28 – American Wild Ale
• Category 33 – Wood Beer
• Category 34 – Specialty Beer (using one of the previous categories as a basis)

Timeline
Entries are due by March 23, 2018. The judging will occur on March 25 and will be a closed event only open to judges and stewards. Winner(s) will be announced on March 26. We recognize that this is a short timeline and expect that entries will consist of beers that have already been brewed/aged. We will conduct this competition again in the future so you should start brewing your sour/wild stuff now for next year!

Winners
As this competition is only open to specific categories, many of which require long-term aging, we will select 1-2 winners based on the specific aging-time of each beer for possible submission as a pro-am entry to GABF in either 2018 or 2019. This means that if the overall winning beer requires more time than possible to submit to the 2018 GABF then we may select a second winning beer that could be produced in a shorter timeline for the 2018 submission. We would then focus on brewing the overall winning beer for submission to the 2019 GABF competition to ensure adequate aging time.

Details
- This competition is limited to 3 beer entries per individual.
- Entry fee is $5/entry. Entries are limited to 3 per brewer.
- Three bottles are required unless 220z or more and then two bottles are required.

- The 2015 BJCP Guidelines will be used for this competition and judges will use this as the basis for their assessment of the beer.
- First and second place for each category will be awarded, but the Best-of-Show winner(s) will be identified through a second assessment by the judges.
- The Best-of-Show winner(s) will have the opportunity to brew their beer with the IMBĪB brewing team with the intent that these beers will be submitted to the GABF Pro-Am competition in 2018 and possibly 2019.
- The winners of each category as well as the Best-of-Show winner(s) will be promoted through social media and other forms of recognition.
- The Best-of-Show winner(s) will receive a 5-gallon keg of the final product produced in collaboration with IMBĪB.
-This will be a closed judging session meaning only judges and stewards will be allowed to be present.
