Cold Wax & Oil Paint – This is an “alternative” to encaustic painting. If you love encaustic but are afraid of fusing, heat, fumes, etc., this is the workshop for you. Cold wax looks similar to encaustic but has a matte finish. You can still texturize, layer, scratch back, and collage, etc. Expect LOTS of demonstrations! – QUESTIONS call Linda at 717-623-2333. This is a beginner to intermediate class.
A $35.00 payable to instructor for additional supplies.
Materials List – Must Haves – LINDA WILL BE FURNISHING THE COLD WAX, PLUS MANY OTHER MATERIALS/TOOLS
6 to 8 supports – can be a combination of board, cradled board, Arches Oil Paper, MultiMedia Board, Canvas
Freezer Paper – can be purchased at your local grocery store
Oil paint – please buy the best you can afford – Gamblin in a great brand
Odorless Solvent – I recommend Gamblin
Soft Brayer (I will have for sale)
Squeegee (I will have for sale) I recommend the Messermeister Silicon Bowl Scraper that you can purchase from Amazon
Several painting knives – look for the icing knives made by Wilton (great for painting) or Liquitex brand
1 roll of paper towels
newsprint
dollar store tissue paper in white (nice to have, but not necessary)
texture tools, stencils, stamps, rubber gloves (it's very messy) powdered pigment, small spray bottle for solvent, oil bars.
