The Bellfield Tavern is delighted to be bringing to Kilmarnock Martin Metcalfe and the Fornicators with support from Joe Bone & the Dark Vibes and Worse than Moe. Tickets priced £8 are available now to buy online at bellfield.bigcartel.com and from The Bellfield Tavern end of next week.

Martin Metcalfe has occupied a unique place at the heart of Scottish alternative rock, in various manifestations, since the late 1980s Firstly as the main singer/songwriter with UK chart band Goodbye Mr. Mackenzie then morphing in to Angel Fish (featuring the vocals of Shirley Manson) , Martin has established a hard core following which is strong, and current, as it was in the days of seminal single The Rattler. More recently Martin has made waves with a new band The Filthy Tongues who created a masterpiece album ‘Jacob’s Ladder’ in 2016.

Martin is performing a show with his backing band The Fornicators and they will be performing a set of Martin's back catalogue at The Bellfield Tavern on Friday 30th November

Edinburgh frontman Martin Metcalfe has co written 4 of the 11 songs on Scottish post-punk band The Skids 1st album in 37 years. Not only that but Martin has also contributed backing vocals and guitar to the recording. An adolescent fan of Dunfermline’s chart topping punks The Skids, Martin is proud that he and his writing partner from his 1980’s band Goodbye Mr MacKenzie Derek Kelly were asked to write co-write songs with Skids singer Richard Jobson, he said ’Derek Kelly & I were major Skids fans and played their songs in our early punk bands, so this was an honour’. The album has been composed by several co-writers including Bruce & Jamie Watson of Big Country and world famous producer Martin Glover AKA ’Youth’. The Skids album ‘Burning Cities’ chart success bodes well for even more great Skids concerts following their successful reunion tour last year. The Skids, Goodbye Mr MacKenzie, Big Country and Youth’s band Killing Joke all had top 30 albums in the 1970’s, 80’s & 90’s so it’s perhaps no surprised the union of these writers has produced yet another UK hit record.
